Tuesday October 3 saw Matthew Halton Hawks host the Willow Creek Composite High Cobras from Claresholm for Ladies Volleyball in both the Junior Varsity and Seniors divisions on Thursday evening, October 4.

The JV team took to the court first, and the Cobras bit deep the first set, taking the lead with 25-17.  The Hawks defended the home turf in the second and third set only allowing the Cobras 16 and 22 points, respectively   Hawks JV took the game winning 2 of the three sets.

The Senior Ladies started out strong as well, with good back and forth action on the court. Matthew Halton took the first set 25-21.

The Cobras came to this game with many fresh players, whereas the Hawks had five of their players playing on both JV and the Seniors team.  By the second set the Hawks were flagging in energy and when the Cobras took the second set 25-20 it seemed to take a lot of the spirit out of the Hawks.

By midway through the third set, the team work of the Hawks was starting to dissolve.  Hawks offense was lagging and they were caught more than once with  openings in their defense. The third and fourth sets had the the Cobras extending their lead in each set winning the third set 25-15, and the fourth set 25-12. Cobras took the game 3 out of 4 sets.

Senior Cobras Coach Bev McNutt was proud of her team.  "They played well as a team, and did a great job executing what was practiced."
