The "48 for Life" charity hockey tournament, a fundraiser to raise money for heart and stroke equipment for the Pincher Creek hospital, has been scaled back to a "24 for Life" event. According to organizer Dan Crawford "We do not have enough players to play for 48 hours. We are cutting back to a 24 hour game instead. We are having great support for the event from the community but are having a hard time getting players. They are starting to sign up but we don't have any more time to wait and see. The plan for the game (otherwise) is staying the same."
The 24 hour game will start on Friday evening, October 12, at 7 pm and run until 7 pm on Saturday. The Rotary Club will be doing a breakfast on Saturday morning, October 13, and Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village will serve a supper Saturday night. The Pincher Creek Curling Club will run the bar for the event. Minor hockey will run a concession during the day.
Organizers are hoping to fill up the arena for the final two hours of the game. They are still accepting players aged 20 and up to try and fill up the roster.
Donations for the game are still being accepted too. Anyone with questions can call Dan Crawford at 403-627-7892.
